Domestic Violence Awareness: Join Us in Being an Ally

Did you know that last year 252,535 domestic violence-related calls were made to state and local hotlines in New York? These pleas for help tell the story of a growing social problem. EAC Network’s Abusive Partner Intervention Program (APIP) and our domestic abuse prevention initiatives were created to respond to and address this pressing social problem within our communities. Domestic Violence Awareness Month, recognized every October, focuses public attention on this pressing social problem and solution-based programs, like APIP, that are creating positive change.

2 Weatherization Assistance Programs Bridging the Gap During Winter

Winter in New York can be long and hard, especially for low-income Nassau County families. Due to the high cost of energy, some get stuck between a rock and hard place when it gets cold. A lack of resources then forces tough choices, like staying warm or having enough to eat. To address this pervasive problem, EAC Network’s two weatherization assistance programs (HEAT and WRAP) deliver direct support services that help members of our community stay in their homes and out of costly institutional care.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA’s) primary goal for child passenger safety is to make sure all parents and caregivers are correctly using the right car seats (rear-facing car seats, forward-facing car seats, or booster seats) or seat belts for their children’s ages and sizes.

Our NYC Criminal Justice Programs Work to Break the Cycle

As evinced by the media NYC crime rates continue to rise, but EAC Network’s Behavioral Health and Criminal Justice programs work toward solving the root of the problem instead of just putting a bandage on it. Our criminal justice programs are providing evidence-based solutions in conjunction with case management services in all five boroughs that aim to address both the mental health needs and substance use issues that so many New Yorkers face leading them to the criminal justice system. While working with the Court System, EAC shares the goal of preventing recidivism while sustainably improving the lives of others.
