Program Description
The Problem:
Driving while intoxicated is a prevalent issue that results in millions of injuries or deaths each year. In particular, Suffolk County has one of the highest rates of alcohol-related crashes in New York State.
Our Solution:
Educate individuals about alcohol consumption to promote public safety and decrease recidivism.
How We Do it:
STEP staff educate program participants on how alcohol consumption changes or influences their attitudes about drinking alcohol, driving while intoxicated, and how their own personal decisions can affect the lives of others. By using evidence-based interactive journaling, STEP facilitators inspire and guide individuals to make better choices that lead to healthier and happier lives, promote public safety, and decrease recidivism.
