Program Description
The Problem:
In the United States, motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for teens ages 14-18.
Our Solution:
Create a collaboration between parents, teens and the community to help teens understand the crucial role they play in preventing teen motor vehicle crashes and influencing safe driving behaviors.
How We Do it:
Teen Driving Equation targets parents and guardians as key players to influence their teens to drive safely and responsibly, promote the use of seat belts, reduce excessive speed and passenger distraction, and institute a DWI/DWA/Zero Tolerance contract. Speakers at special and outreach events present a comprehensive curriculum on safe driving practices as well as from personal experiences about driving distractions.
How You Can Help:
Teen Driving Equation is in current need of a Smart Board/projector and a closed circuit television for safety instruction. To support Teen Driving Equation with a gift, click here or call (516) 539-0150 x117.
The Outcomes of Teen Driving Equation Program
Teen Driving Equation increases safety measures among teen drivers through educational workshops that instill accountability for their actions behind the wheel.
What People Say About Teen Driving Equation Program
It is with sincere gratitude that I write this letter. I want to thank you for your dedication to the safety of Long Island’s teen drivers. Hauppauge High School is devoted to ensuring the safety of our students and community members when it comes to teen driving and the temptations and pressures that teens face on a daily basis. Hauppauge High School’s driver’s education program certainly teaches the students the “rules of the road,” but also emphasizes the devastation that poor decisions will cause. Mr. Bob Fiore, the driver’s education teacher at Hauppauge High School, has expressed to me how willing EAC Network has been to speak to our students during the spring and summer sessions. Furthermore, the materials provided have complimented the presentations very well and are effective. In addition, the two presenters, Ms. Karen Torres and Ms. Angela Brockmann were simply outstanding! Their presentations were engaging and and impactful and most certainly brought deeper meaning to our classroom curriculum. Please extend our heartfelt appreciation to both of them on behalf of Hauppauge High School. The experiences and the materials that EAC Network provided only enrich our driver’s education program and allow our students to have a more thorough and more meaningful experience within the driver’s education classroom. There is no telling how much impact the education we provide will have, however, if it speaks to one student and influences that student to make positive choices while driving then we can consider the education a great success. Thank you for all of EAC Network’s contributions and your continued efforts in looking after the safety of our teens. Your concern, support, and invovlement in our students’ lives are greatly appreciated by Hauppauge High School.
As a driver who recently finished driver’s education and will very soon have a license of her own, I felt fortunate for having seen the Teen Driving presentation. It is imperative that young drivers understand their lack of experience and vulnerability when driving. Many teenagers believe that they are invincible behind the wheel; nevertheless, it’s important that we know that these terrible and fatal situations result from our own brief ignorance. After having viewed the presentation, I feel I can channel the concepts the speaker conveyed to aid my safety and that of others while driving. I will never text while driving. A few characters like “LOL” just are not worth my life or another person’s life.
I want to a minute and thank Al Serrari & Drivers Teen Presentation. The presentation was very engaging! You made an incredible impact on my life and my family. I truly believe this presentation can make a difference and a great impact in teenagers creating better choices towards safety driving. It’s a real eye opener. Every school needs to have this presentation heard by juniors, seniors and parents. It should be mandatory! I appreciate your time, support and dedication. You are a true blessing! Keep up the great work in making a difference in this world! Thank you!
