Since 1986, In-Home Respite Services has been providing compassionate, reliable companionship to Nassau County seniors. Our trained and screened companions allow local families to take care of personal needs without worrying about the safety of their loved ones. In honor of National Senior Citizens Day on August 21, join us in celebrating the selfless work of our In-Home Respite Services companions.
A Lifeline for Nassau County Families Caring for Aging Loved Ones
Did you know that 94 percent of Nassau County residents who are 65 or older live at home? Many of these local senior citizens rely heavily on the care and assistance of family members. Over time, this additional burden can strain or even overwhelm families.
Through regular visits from our companions, EAC Network’s In-Home Respite Services assists Nassau County families who are juggling all of life’s responsibilities while caring for an aging loved one. This support network allows seniors to remain in their homes longer, resulting in significant savings to both families and taxpayers.
Our Compassionate Companions Brighten Seniors Days
In-Home Respite Services’ companions make two to six-hour home visits once or twice per week, allowing caregivers a chance to tend to personal business, such as food shopping, medical appointments, and social engagements. Our companions do just about anything a neighbor might do except assisting with personal or medical care.
During each visit, EAC Network’s trained and carefully screened companions help brighten seniors’ days. Whether they share stories or sing a song, our companions offer seniors socialization, stimulation, and so much more:
- Engage in games and activities, such as music and art
- Prepare a light meal
- Provide minimal bathroom assistance
- Maintain safety in the absence of a caregiver
Over time, many of the seniors enrolled in our senior services program develop close relationships with our companions.
