Our trained and screened companions allow local families to take care of personal needs without worrying about the safety of their loved ones. Seniors Win Bingo at Picnic

Seniors from our Hempstead Senior Community Service Center attended the recent Village of Hempstead Senior Picnic at Kennedy Park where guests were treated to a family-style lunch, raffles, entertainment by Chauncey Nedd and the Neddmen, bingo, and ice cream. The best part? Two of our members won bingo prizes! Woo!

Senior Center Hosts Annual Luau

Our North Merrick Senior Community Service Center hosted its 4th Annual Luau where over 70 seniors came to enjoy the entertainment by Dance Aloha, who performed for the seniors and encouraged audience participation. Everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch, Hawaiian chicken, rice and green beans, and for desert an ice cream sundae!

VIBS Presents on Elder Abuse to Educate Respite Companions

Recently, Donna Buccellato, Elder Abuse Educator for the Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk (VIBS), conducted a presentation for the team in our In-Home Respite Services program. The feedback was very positive, as the workshop created greater awareness of the complicated issues surrounding elder abuse and will also allow our companions to be more alert to problems they may encounter in clients’ homes.

Seniors Make Jewelry

Members of our Hempstead Senior Community Service Center recently enjoyed a new jewelry making class with instructor Carmela Barile. Activities like jewelry making are provided to the senior centers by our own Senior Health Promotion program, which is generously funded by Nassau County Office for the Aging.

Seniors Enjoy a Lunch Excursion

Recently, the members of our Hempstead and Long Beach Senior Community Service Centers went on a lunch excursion together at the 5 De Mayo Mexican restaurant in Westbury. All seniors enjoyed a delicious meal and are already planning their next get together!
