Our local seniors have had to deal with increased isolation and decreased access to food. To confront this pervasive problem, EAC Network’s Meals on Wheels in Nassau County has been on the frontlines making daily deliveries of food and hope to home-bound seniors.
On the Frontlines Helping Vulnerable Seniors
The unfortunate reality is that some vulnerable senior citizens have been forced to face the difficult decision of choosing between their next meal and paying for other necessary expenses, such as medical care.
Easing Seniors Minds
EAC Network’s Meals on Wheels program is there to ensure Nassau County seniors do not have to worry about making choices like that. It provides healthy meals, nutrition education, links to additional social services, and more to home-bound seniors.

Meals on Wheels in Nassau County provides more than nutritious food. At-risk seniors receive supportive services that make it possible for them to maintain independence even when times are tough.
Meals on Wheels in Nassau County ‘Saved My Life’
The meals EAC Network delivers daily have improved the quality of life for so many home-bound senior citizens, including Miss S., a 92-year-old Meals on Wheels recipient.

Demand for Our Services Rises in Pandemic
Because the vulnerable individuals we serve are among those most impacted by the pandemic, EAC Network has experienced a three-fold demand for food and direct support services.
In 2020, EAC Network’s Meals on Wheels in Nassau County served 136 percent more meals than the previous year. This dramatic rise in demand has been projected to continue during 2021.
Despite the challenges the COVID-19 pandemic has presented, Meals on Wheels and our other senior services will continue providing vital assistance to vulnerable local seniors.
