Testimonials
“My experience as an EAC intern and becoming a part time employee was dazzling. I had graduated from Howie the Harp Advocacy Center in January 2016. EAC Forensic Case Manager Lillian Bopp interviewed me at a job fair the next day. Ms. Bopp offered me an internship with EAC and I accepted it with no hesitation. The next thing I know I’m working with multiple case managers, who were helping dozens of clients straighten out their lives. All of my co-workers treated me in a professional manner and they showed me how they worked with clients. I immediately saw that case managers had professional boundaries that they couldn’t cross, such as disclose their personal information. That’s where I came in. As a Peer Specialist it is my job to show clients that I could empathize with them by sharing my experience with homelessness, abuse, mental illness, trauma, etc. Showing clients that you can relate to what they are going through eventually leads to developing strong rapports with them. During these interactions with clients, it shows them that EAC exists to help people straighten their lives out. I am proud of being one of EAC’s employees because the agency is always looking for ways to build a better world for everyone. Plus, they offer upward mobility to their employees. EAC is a great organization.”
– Boyd Perez, Peer Recovery Coach
“I started as an intern at EAC in the supervised visitation program located in Ronkonkoma.
I also took part in the parenting classes at the Long Island Parenting Institute. While interning I learned of the various other programs all geared toward helping others.
I fell in love with EAC and wanted to work here, I applied for all openings that interested me. I like that there is room for growth and appreciate the supportive environment. I am currently a full time EAC employee.”
– Jenny Martinez, Case Coordinator
