The Nature’s Bounty Foundation Grants $25,000 to Implement Nutrition and Wellness Education for Low-Income Families

Central Islip, NY – May 24, 2018Hempstead-based human service agency EAC Network was recently awarded a generous $25,000 grant from the Nature’s Bounty Foundation to launch the “Nature’s Bounty of Wellness” program initiative. The initiative will provide comprehensive nutrition and wellness education to EAC Network’s professional staff who will then teach the information to predominantly low-income families in Suffolk County.

“Nature’s Bounty of Wellness” will launch at four of EAC Network’s Suffolk County office locations in Ronkonkoma, Hauppauge, and two in Central Islip.  EAC Network staff at these locations directly interact with over 5,000 clients across the organization’s program portfolio, including:

“Wellness is so much more than nutrition—it is about quality of life, and programs like these are a tremendous support to individuals in our communities who need assistance,” said Beverly Lee-Wo, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility for The Nature’s Bounty Co. “The Nature’s Bounty Foundation seeks out opportunities to help people in our communities be well, through nutrition, education, and more, and we are proud to be in a position to support this program.”

A Wellness Team comprised of staff Wellness Coordinators will be trained in wellness education so they can help their clients make better, practical, and affordable eating and healthy lifestyle choices that can lead to the development of long-term, healthy habits to ultimately enhance their daily lives.
