GIVE IN THE HONOR OF YOUR LOVED ONES

Every holiday season, I receive more gifts than I know what to do with. While I am grateful for the generosity of my friends and family, I often end up like the lady to the right – overwhelmed by the amount of new items and wondering where I’m going to put all of them. I don’t want to hide them away to be forgotten about until the next time I clean out my closet (which is rare).

To me, that is wasteful. I know children and adults who have nothing. I’ve seen children in our programs light up when they receive a gift from our volunteers or Toys for Tots. There are so many with so little and I simply have too much. So, I’ve been working on adopting a more minimalist lifestyle by donating clothes and items I don’t use to others that truly need them. In keeping with this approach, I decided to shake things up this year.

Instead of presents, I’ve asked my friends and family to make donations to support the at-risk populations that EAC Network serves. As an employee, I know their donations will make a difference because I see it firsthand in our Development Department every day.

Giving a donation in place of a gift shows that you care for and respect the causes your loved ones’ support. It’s a present that will have a long-lasting impact on lives.
