MAKING A DIFFERENCE, ONE CAN AT A TIME
Five volunteers from Davidson, Maneri & Associates, a private practice of Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc., rolled up their sleeves to organize our food pantry, which provides nutritious food for people living with HIV/AIDS through our Nutrition Education and Food Services program. The AIDS epidemic still strongly impacts Long Island neighborhoods, especially the low-income demographic. It is often difficult for individuals with the disease to purchase the healthy foods necessary to sustain their health.
We run the only free food pantry that solely provides food for those with HIV/AIDS. Our pantry, housed at our administrative office in Hempstead, often needs to be reorganized when new food orders come in. Luckily, Davidson, Maneri & Associates’ staff members visited us to help organize the pantry, as well as to give a generous donation of nonperishable food for the pantry and our Meals on Wheels program from their company.
“Employees from Davidson Maneri & Associates stepped away from their desks to collect food for needy seniors & families for the holidays,” said Carol O’Neill, Senior Director of Senior and Nutritional Services. “If that wasn’t enough, they sorted the food, and stocked our pantry shelves. They did an amazing job.”
