Members of our Hempstead Senior Community Service Center recently enjoyed a new jewelry making class with instructor Carmela Barile. Activities like jewelry making are provided to the senior centers by our own Senior Health Promotion program, which is generously funded by Nassau County Office for the Aging.

Recently, the members of our Hempstead and Long Beach Senior Community Service Centers went on a lunch excursion together at the 5 De Mayo Mexican restaurant in Westbury. All seniors enjoyed a delicious meal and are already planning their next get together!
In light of the recent E. coli found in Long Beach water, Senator Kaminsky remembered our seniors and sent cases of water to our Long Beach Senior Community Service Center. Our seniors are very grateful and thank Senator Kaminsky for thinking of them and his generous donation!
Mary Ann Samson, Home Assessor and Trainer, and Mary Lou Ogren, Companion, recently represented EAC Network’s In-Home Respite Services at the Hillside Senior Appreciation Day. In-Home Respite Services provides in-home caregivers (companions) to Nassau County residents caring for an elderly relative in their home so the caregiver can take much-needed time off.
EAC Network’s best-interest child advocacy took another step forward recently when Suffolk Family Court Judge Chris Ann Kelley administered the oath of service to new Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers who successfully completed a rigorous 30-hour training program. This more than doubles the Suffolk program size!
The Village of Hempstead recently honored two of EAC Network’s seniors for “Older Americans Month.” Congratulations to our very own Betty Posey and Denise Suffy (pictured with Village of Hempstead Mayor Don Ryan), for this recognition of your dedication to the community!
Members at our Port Washington Senior Center created beautiful hats as part of a Mother’s Day arts and crafts project! Our Senior Centers provide seniors with a variety of activities such as socialization, recreation, health promotion, educational programs, and congregate meals, as well as fun holiday parties and other celebrations!
It was just a regular day recently for Ken White, one of our Meals on Wheels drivers. He stopped for a cup of coffee, picked up nutritious meals for delivery to homebound seniors, and, oh yeah, saved a life!
Continuing our Pinwheels of Prevention campaign this month, Patty, Lello, Joan, and Mary on behalf of the Women of West Islip created two incredible pinwheel gardens with 240 pinwheels in honor of #NationalChildAbusePreventionMonth.
Staff at Clear Vision Optical participated in the Suffolk County Child Advocacy Center’s (CAC) month-long Pinwheels for Prevention campaign by decorating pinwheels to bring awareness to Child Abuse Prevention Month.
