Patchogue Medford School District Contracted With EAC Network Long Island Dispute Resolution Centers (LIDRC) Program to Provide Peer Mediation Training For Middle School Students And Staff
The Patchogue Medford School District contracted with EAC Network Long Island Dispute Resolution Centers (LIDRC) program to provide Peer Mediation Training for its Middle School students and staff. On March 1st and 2nd, Cohort One students were trained, and on March 4th and 5th Cohort Two student training took place, for a total 86 students. Each cohort had representatives from Middle Schools in the district including South Ocean Avenue, Saxton, and Oregon. All trainings occurred at the Saxton School, where COVD-19 protocols were followed. An in-person Swearing-In Ceremony will take place at a later time during the academic year. Of special note is that all the Middle Schools in the Patchogue Medford district have been trained in Peer Mediation / Conflict Resolution. We thank the Patchogue Medford district for its support of Restorative Practices that allowed for these trainings to occur. The administration from each of the middle schools look forward to utilizing the skills of its newly trained Peer Mediators, which will assist their fellow students in resolving conflicts and ensuring that voices are heard when needed.
