FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GRANT FROM BANK OF AMERICA ALLOWS MEALS ON WHEELS TO CONTINUE HELPING NASSAU COUNTY’S MOST VULNERABLE POPULATIONS

EAC Network serving increasing demand during coronavirus outbreak

April 16, 2020, Long Island, NY ~ EAC Network’s COVID-19 Response Fund has received much needed assistance from Bank of America to help address an increased demand for life sustaining food from COVID-19 impacted seniors.

EAC Network, a non-profit human services organization, assists vulnerable and underserved populations throughout Long Island and New York City. Many of its clients, especially Nassau County senior citizens, are feeling the brunt of hunger due to COVID-19. Bank of America’s contribution of $100 thousand dollars will support EAC Network’s Meals on Wheels program, with its boots-on-the-ground effort to help seniors impacted by COVID-19.

“Meals on Wheels is often the only thing standing between our senior citizens and not eating,” said EAC Network’s Richard Kessel, Chairman of the Nassau County Industrial Development Agency, and Chairman of EAC Network’s Board of Directors. “Bank of America’s contribution to EAC Network’s COVID-19 Response Fund is allowing us to double our delivery capacity and supply our delivery staff with personal protective equipment.”

“EAC Network has been a pillar for Nassau County for over 50 years,” said Robert Isaksen, Long Island Market President for Bank of America. “It’s also Nassau’s largest provider of Meals on Wheels services, delivering to 45 towns across the county. We’re thankful EAC Network is looking out for those who may be overlooked, and grateful it’s continuing to make a difference for Long Islanders during this time.”

Nassau County is home to nearly 300,000 senior citizens, many of whom are vulnerable and often have to choose between their next meal and other expenses. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Meals on Wheels has been delivering hope along with life sustaining food to those who need it the most.
With the support of private and corporate donations from different organizations, including Bank of America, EAC Network has been able to continually provide vital programs and direct support services to more than 82,000 clients in need.
