EAC NETWORK PARTNERED WITH BROOKE JACKMAN FOUNDATION AND DREAM MARKING 9/11 20-YEAR ANNIVERSARY BY DISTRIBUTING 200 BROOKE BACKPACKS Benefitting DREAM Mott Haven Elementary School Students

EAC Network partnered with The Brooke Jackman Foundation and DREAM to distribute 200 “Brooke Pack” backpacks to students at the DREAM Mott Haven Elementary School in the Bronx.

Neela Mukherjee Lockel, President and Chief Executive Officer of EAC Network said, “EAC Network was proud to honor the memory of Brooke Jackman who lost her life on 9/11 by partnering with The Brooke Jackman Foundation and DREAM to distribute 200 backpacks to DREAM Mott Haven Elementary School students.” Lockel added, “It was Brooke’s dream to help educate NYC school children. Brooke’s dream came true as we joined forces with DREAM Mott Haven Elementary School Principal Jamie Platzer in providing  ‘Brooke Packs’ and school supplies to incoming students for the 2021-2022 school year.”

The Brooke Jackman Foundation was created to honor Brooke Jackman after the September 11th World Trade Center attack claimed her life at the age of 23. Brooke’s love of reading and learning, and her profound interest in children, inspired the creation and support of programs that enhance the literacy and self-esteem of disadvantaged children and their families in and around the New York area. “Brooke Packs” are designed to meet the needs of children in diverse city, agency, and school programs when other resources aren’t available. Filled with a variety of engaging, age-appropriate reading and composition books, and other needed school supplies, this backpack is sometimes a child’s sole personal possession when returning to school.

DREAM provides youth with opportunities to play, learn, and grow. Its mission is to level the field by empowering all children to recognize their potential and realize their dreams. Originally founded in 1991 as Harlem RBI, DREAM has grown to serve youth across East Harlem and the South Bronx through a network of six PreK-12, extended-day, extended-year DREAM Charter Schools and community sports-based youth development programs. Through DREAM’s commitment to rigorous academics, social-emotional learning, deep family and community engagement, and health and wellness, DREAM creates lifelong learners who are equipped to fulfill their vision of success in and out of the classroom.
