EAC Network remains steadfastly committed to providing essential services and programs to some of the most vulnerable members of our community. With the support of our generous donors, like the Bank of America, we continue to provide Meals on Wheels and other vital services and programs to vulnerable senior citizens impacted by COVID-19.
Our Senior Services are more Vital than Ever Right Now
Now, more than ever, these vital services are helping seniors to remain safely at home and avoid contacting COVID-19.
Many of these seniors want to “age in place” and stay in their own homes, where they can be surrounded by family and friends. COVID-19 presents unique challenges that EAC Network addresses with essential programs and services led by an outstanding leadership team along with dedicated volunteers, who help seniors, their caregivers, and families overcome the challenges they are facing.
Working closely with local, state, and federal agencies, and steadfast community partners, EAC Network provides services for seniors including its Meals on Wheels Senior Case Management and In-Home Respite Services program. EAC Network’s Meals on Wheels delivers more meals to Nassau County’s homebound seniors than anyone else – over 1,700 meals in 45 towns every week.
But that’s not all we do.
Meals on Wheels Provides a Human Touch
While we nourish the body with nutritious food, we also bring hope to those whose age and health have left them very much alone. Meals on Wheels fights hunger among the elderly, which is especially critical for seniors who suffer from life-threatening illnesses during the pandemic.
Our Most Vulnerable Seniors Receive Special Attention
But the most important impact on the lives of the most vulnerable is knowing that someone cares about them. Birthdays are celebrated with a cake and a personalized card, pet food for furry companions is included in the delivery along with daily wellness checks to ensure the safety of those who live alone.
Imagine that the only person you see every day, for a few minutes, is a Meals on Wheels volunteer or driver. This is the plight for so many of our most vulnerable seniors. EAC Network’s Meals on Wheels program helps Long Islanders live longer and healthier lives, one meal at a time and we need help to continue to do so.
Support EAC Network’s COVID-19 Response Fund
EAC Network, a non-profit agency that helps over 82,000 people in need throughout Long Island and New York City, recently launched a COVID-19 Response Fund campaign to assist us in addressing the heightened demand for vital programs and direct support services, like Meals on Wheels, amidst the apex of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our clients, who currently reside in counties and boroughs within our nation’s epicenter of the disease outbreak, represent the most vulnerable and underserved populations at the greatest risk of severe illness. During this rapidly changing situation, EAC Network remains steadfast in its commitment to help those in need.
